Lesson 6 : The first music you can play !

As we said in the previous article, when you start the guitar it is sometimes very frustrating because what you try to play is not very fluid and it does not sound musical.

That’s why I will explain you how to play an entire song, which sound really nice and musical with only 4 very simple chords and a very simple rhythm.

As I explained in Lesson 3 on the 4 magic chords, the pivot fingers are your best friends to change chords quickly and smoothly. This is why I took the liberty for this music to select a few derivatives of these 4 basic chords so that you always have at least one pivot finger!

Chords :

We have first of all the E minor 7 which is a variation of the E major and which is played by adding the little fingers and the ring finger on the 3rd fret of the last 2 strings.

E minor 7

Then we have C add 2, which is a derivative of the back and is played exactly like G major, but lowering the index and middle finger by one square.

C Add 2

Let's continue with the G major chord, to pass to this chord you are just going to have to raise your index and your middle finger by one square.

G Major
Finally, we have the D Major chord. Here you have 2 choices :

First, You feel comfortable and play classic D major with only your ring finger as a Pivot finger. Like this guitar tab :

D Major
Or, You still have a little trouble and you prefer to keep your little finger as well as your ring finger as a pivot finger. In this case you will simply come and place your middle finger in box 2 of the 3rd string to play a D sus 4 (also called Re little finger). Note that if you choose this form of D then you will not have to move your ring finger and your little finger of the whole song, practice right?

D Sus 4

Rythm

The rhythm is also very simple. It’s what we call the fire camp rhythm. You just have to strum the sting like in the following pattern :

Down / Down / Up / Up / Down / Up

And when you have done pattern, change chord and do the same thing !

Now practice again and again to improve your skills and to make this song as good as possible. I hope that you liked this article that it will be useful in your Guitar Hero  journey guys !
